2010 STARTS WITH SNOW, MORE SNOW AND THREE WINNERS! - 08 January 2010

Despite the daily snow and sub zero temperatures, 2010 started on a high for Hambleton House with a treble at Southwell.

Thanks to Kevin Edmunds, our Assistant Trainer, and his tractor, the horses have been able to be exercised throughout the spell of bad weather and those efforts certainly paid dividends on Friday.

Master Leon, following a string of highly creditable placed efforts, was sent off the warm favourite for the 6 furlong maiden. In the absence of stable jocky Tom Eaves, who is on holiday, Philip Makin had Master Leon at the head of affairs throughout and he soon had his rivals hard at work. Kept up to his work, he came home 3 1/2 lengths ahead of his nearest pursuer to give owner, Alan Zheng, a deserved winner.

An hour later it was Transmission's turn over the course and distance that he registered his first victory almost exactly a year previously. Settled in mid division, he too it up turning for home and he and Special Cuvee battled it out to the line with the third horse some way adrift. At the line, Transmission was a length ahead of his rival.

The third runner of the day was Positivity who, despite being a maiden, has run a number of good races in defeat at this course. Always close to the lead, she pulled a couple of lengths clear of the field early in the straight and kept galloping to bring up the treble for Hambleton House.

All in all a fine day despite the weather!!!
