NICKEL SILVER BREAKS COURSE RECORD - 27 January 2010
Nickel Silver put up a blistering performance to break the 5 furlong course record at Kempton.
Although he broke well, Glamorous Spirit outsprinted him early and Tom Eaves was content to sit in second albeit some way clear of the chasing pack. In the straight, however, Nickel Silver maintained his gallop and led inside the final furlong to win by 3/4 length.
This was the sixth win in just over 12 months for Martin Barber's gelding who continues to go from strength to strength. He has risen 30 pounds in the handicap during that time and to break the course record carrying topweight was yet another fine achievement.
