Smalljohn picked up the seventh win of his career from just 30 runs when taking the 'M&F Funeral Services Handicap' at Musselburgh.
Having disputed the lead from the start, Smalljohn looked in some trouble two furlongs from home but he battled back strongly to lead inside the final furlong and win by almost 2 lengths.
Under a strong ride from stable apprentice Adam Carter, Smalljohn showed why he has finished in the first three in more than half of his races and continues to do Hambleton House proud.
